Tonight “We Run the Night” Fashion Industry Networking Mixer went down at Studio Arte in Midtown and Reality TV Fashion was on hand to interview key note guests as well as take part in an exciting panel discussion. The networking soiree was headlined by R&B songstress Jade Alston, as well as celeb stylist and reality star Emily Bustamante, and featured an open panel discussion lead by industry insiders that included the likes of Juicy Magazine web editor Shirea L. Carroll, YRB Magazine Creative Director and celebrity stylist Darius Baptist, Black Enterprise Magazine Finance Editor LaToya Smith, Kontrol Magazine Beauty Editor and celeb hair stylist Pekela Riley, celebrity makeup artist Theresa Francine, and fashion designer Gwen Beloti.
I particularly enjoyed spending time on the red carpet with friend to the blog Emily B, who divulged more deets on her upcoming reality show which, she emphasized, is not a spin-off of “Love & Hip Hop” but rather a family-oriented show that will follow the Jones family as well as the development of her mens’ outerwear line. According to Emily, the show will be “drama-free” and we’ll get to see a whole other side of both her and BFF Chrissy. We won’t really see any appearances by Fab, who has opted out of the show. However, the two are in a good place in their personal lives and as such we’ll get to see a very happy Emily – she noted, with a smile, that she hasn’t “cried” once since taping. Then she joked that she’d better not jinx herself, as taping is still going on. The new reality show is set to air this winter 2012.
In terms of her personal fashion and style endeavors, Emily stated that she is looking forward to Mercedez-Benz/New York Fashion week, as well as London Fashion Week, where she was personally invited by designer Mark Fast. Nice! For tonight’s event Emily slipped into the Summer Rain-Print Vicka Blouson Top with Summer Rain-Print Chiffon Pants by Alice + Olivia. She styled the olive green and cream two-piece ensemble with a quilted orange Chanel bag [last spotted here and here], matching patent leather Christan Louboutin peep-toe pumps, and silver and gold Spike Hoop Earrings by Rich Girlz.

I also loved kicking it with my boo Vanessa Gyan of She’s So Major. We had too much fun on the red carpet waiting for celebs to arrive – we talked everything from reality TV (and our shared hopes that Jen Williams returns to BBW!) to how relieved we were that we’d decided to go with flats instead of stilettos! #SweetJesus! Vanessa is wearing a cute semi-sheer neon green dress from Forever 21 and I slipped into an easy Variegated Stripe Maxi Dress from Arden B.
Each keynote speaker shared in their areas of expertise in various topics such as relationships, career/finance, fashion, beauty, hair, styling, and media. It was a fun-filled and fashionable time! Special thank you to Eboyne’ Jackson and J’Lynn Designs Agency for a fab event! xo
