A couple years back I appeared on Season 2 of the reality show “All On the Line” where I met fashion designer and industry veteran, Cesar Galindo, who had recently lost his business and life partner to cancer. Cesar had worked for some of the biggest labels in the world, but the loss of his partner completely devastated him as well as affected his work. Joe Zee and special guest, Veronica Webb, along with myself and a few NYC style influencers, worked to rekindle Cesar’s creative passion in Episode 5 titled “Nude Is the New Black.”
A few years later the universe brought me to Cesar Galindo’s Fall/Winter 2014 fashion presentation, where I was able to take in his latest collection and revel in his evolution as a designer. CZAR by Cesar Galindo Fall/Winter 2014 is about altered states of style by mixing social, active and career with ease. The city’s top influencers, tastemakers, and glitterati were treated to blurred lines of patterns, static weaves, optical graphics, jeweled prints, silhouettes of wide shoulders with fitted hips, box boleros jackets and body conscious dresses. Cesar embraced blue hues, royal purples with a base of gray, accents of orange, chartreuse and burnt reds with prints of cobra, exaggerated jewels, diamonds, and herringbone textures.
Backstage I chatted with Cesar about his inspiration for the collection, as well as Mary Kay Glam Squad Celebrity Makeup Artist and friend to the blog, Ashunta Sherriff, as she and her team created gorgeous looks of the show. (I first met Ashunta four years ago while on set at a photo shoot for American Baby Magazine and have since followed and admired her work with Mary Kay).
Check out the gallery below for the official face sketch, showcasing the “Fire & Smoke” beauty look of the show, created by Ashunta, as well as more images from the CZAR by Cesar Galindo Fall/Winter 2014 collection.
