This week Stacey Bendet, designer and founder of alice + olivia, hosted a private event at her Soho boutique to celebrate the work of NYC artist and photographer Mallane Stanbury. The boutique was cleared of clothing to showcase Mallane’s amazing photography, all taken behind the scenes during the alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet fashion week presentations. Friends and family of the alice + olivia brand came together to fete Mallane and her art.
Mallane’s images are part photography, part art installation. Each photograph is customized with a neon light that highlights each shot and creates a 3D element. Mallane informed us that she came up with the concept when she was walking down the street in NYC and saw a sign discarded from the 90’s that used a similar technique to advertise a dance club.
For her celebration, the lady of the hour slipped into a $798 Alice +Olivia Black Leather Dress. Mallane’s form-fitting dress features a square neckline, wide straps, and fitted silhouette.
Stacey informed us that she worked closely with her friend and Executive Assistant, Mallane, in preparation for this exhibit. “As a woman I think it’s your responsibility to support other women,” she told ELLE in a recent interview.
Naturally, Stacey hosted the soirée in head-to-toe Fall/Winter 2013 alice + olivia….
