Over the weekend Philadelphia-based designer Mah-Jing Wong showcased his most recent collection at Helen Mills Event Space in Manhattan. Models walked the runway in edgy bodycon silhouettes constructed of his signature semi-sheer nylon and spandex fabrics, PVC vinyl, and treated denim accents. Fall neutrals with splashes of color dominated the runway. Mah-jing Wong also played with texture, cutouts, mixed media, and cage-detail for Fall/Winter 2013. We chatted with the designer, who informed us that his inspiration for the collection is “Pretty Trash” Japanese street mixed with London 60’s punk rock. I can see Brooke Bailey, Draya Michele, Erica Mena, and Malaysia Pargo wearing pieces from this collection.
The show’s front row was flanked by “Love & Hip Hop New York” reality stars Jen “The Pen” Bayer, Erica Mena, and others. Check out more of Mah-Jing Wong’s Fall/Winter 2013 offerings in the gallery below and visit his website to place an order. Special thank you to Arthur Alston of CNJ Productions for the personal invite! xo
