Jennifer Williams’ Zara Tulip Dress at Lucid Lip Gloss Launch

Jennifer Williams’ Zara Tulip Dress at Lucid Lip Gloss Launch

Tonight “Basketball Wives” reality starlet Jennifer Williams hosted an intimate soirée at Big Drop NYC to celebrate the in-store launch of Lucid Cosmetics.  Ladies, ya’all have been emailing/tweeting me for months now inquiring about when she’ll be offering her lip gloss in stores and now the time has come!  Lucid Cosmetics is now available at Big Drop NYC on the Upper East Side and Jen is in the process of branching out to include Lucid in boutiques all over.

At the event, I had an opportunity to chat with Jen along with her manager, Deanna Morales of WiteGold PR, about all things Lucid.  There are so many fun things in the works for Lucid! Here’s the skinny:  Apparently, Jen also has an earring collection coming out that is in development as we speak!  When Jen saw the prototypes (that she helped design) this weekend, according to Deanna, she nearly lost her mind – the pieces are that dope. The Lucid earring collection should be available by early 2012, however, we’ll get a sneak peek over the next couple of weeks as Jen will be wearing pieces here and there.

In other exciting Lucid news…. Jen will also be adding blushes and eye shadows to the line, as well as new lip gloss colors. Fun! As we know, the five colors available now are all named after cities Jen loves.  Well, the newest color will be “Chicago,” and that will be a burnt orange shade.  That’s because fall colors remind Jen of Chicago.  We can be on the look out for Chicago at the start of the year as well.  Of course, the expansion of Lucid Cosmetics will be incorporated into Season 4 of “Basketball Wives,” so we’ll definitely be seeing and hearing more with the premiere of the new season.

Girls, now let’s talk about the fashion.  It was just so sick tonight – I can’t wait to break it down for you.  But first, let me just tell you… Jen has some fashionable friends.  I mean, folks came out in their finest threads, killin it! Why don’t we start with the guest of honor and then we’ll just work our way down?

Jennifer Williams’ Look

Jen wore a silver tulip dress from Zara.  The sleeveless, crew-neck frock looked amazing on her petite figure and really didn’t need many accessories, because the dress is a statement piece on its own.  To that end, Jen kept the look simple and fun with two crystal flower bracelets and Christian Louboutin Rolando Suede Hidden-Platform Pumps in pink (last spotted here).

Jen’s flared mini-dress is reasonably priced at $169 and Jen and I were in agreeance that it isn’t always about the price tag but, rather, mixing and matching what looks great on you.  I just love the shiny metallic finish and architecture of the dress – very hot look for you tonight, Jen!

Deanna Morales’ & Al Reynolds‘ Looks

The petite WiteGold PR CEO stepped out in a camel-colored with black trim Donna Karan pantsuit that she wore with a black camisole.  She styled the look with the Tory Burch Reva Leather Convertible Clutch, an ivory and gold bracelet from Shehnai , India, and leopard peep-toe platform heels (gifted).  Sharp!

Al Reynolds, former banker-turned-professor-turned reality star and socialite, stepped out in a camel-colored Dsquared2 blazer that he paired with a black Dsquared2 vest and crisp white Michael Bastian shirt.  He wore custom jeans by EDUN, a Ferragamo belt, and Gucci shoes.  The fashionisto completed his look with Oliver Peoples glasses and a Bottega Veneta bracelet.

Suzie Ketcham’s Look

Suzie was so sweet and down-to-earth when she giggled and revealed to me that her long-sleeved black lace top was an online bargain find that cost all of $2!  We love a budgetnista, don’t we girls?  She paired the inexpensive top with leggings from Bloomingdales, Camilla Skovgaard Collar Stiletto Sandals in Black, a gold Laura Merkin clutch, and a pair of handmade earrings (online find).

Mashonda Tifrere

I’ve blogged in the past about singer/designer/reality star Mashonda and her blossoming Starlet Mansion clothing line, so it was a real pleasure chatting it up with her tonight about her plans to expand the line to also include jewelry.  Mashonda was pretty in the ASOS Fit and Flare Square Neck Dress that she styled with a wide black belt from a SOHO boutique, Starlet Mansion bangles, and earrings from Barneys.  She finished the look with Alexander McQueen Flesh Fish Bone Platform Sandals and a Balenciaga clutch.

Angela Yee

The Power 105.1 radio personality and shoe-loving socialite was in attendance as well to support her girl.  Angela rocked a LBD by Black Label, Louis Vuitton purse, Christian Louboutin Bianca Python Pumps in gold, and ‘Brooklyn Swag’ earrings and bracelet by LaureLuxe.  I thought the ear-to-ear gold link chain earrings were kind of hot – that was a new look to me.  But I wouldn’t expect anything less from the notorious fashionista.

Jen’s industry friends weren’t the only ones who brought their best fashion game.   Latoya showed us that the color-blocking trend is still hotter than ever for Fall/Winter 2011 in a cobalt blue Zara blazer, BCBG leggings, and Christian Louboutin Daffodile Brodee Pumps (last spotted here and here).  She finished the look with an orange Chanel bag, Hermes bracelets, and “no name” earrings that she found online.  No name, eh Latoya? Well give us that website, girl, cuz the earrings are fly!

The divos were out in full effect as well.  Check out Carter, Diva Glam hair stylist and beauty expert.  Carter stunned us all in this gorgeous Vera Wang fur stole, thrifted sparkling velvet blazer, American Apparel scoop neck red tee, and acid wash skinny jeans by Torrid.  Sky-high chunky boots from Bakers and a Metropark necklace and earrings completed his look.  Carter’s edgy meets glam look may well have been my favorite of the evening.  #WERK Carter!

Shakie is another friend of Jen’s who came out to show love. I really liked the purple, grey, and black theme she had going on which made her bright pink lip pop that much more.  Shakie described her look as vintage and shared that her cropped sweater and black cardigan top were both thrifted.  Shakie’s bag is Guess, jeans Forever 21, and shoes are Aldos circa 2006.  Her bracelet is from a little boutique in Jersey calleed Chado More. She identified the lip color as Sephora but couldn’t recall its name.

Finally, it was a sincere pleasure chopping it up with former Editor-in-Chief of The Source Magazine, Joshua “Fahiym” Ratcliffe.  Fahiym, who today is founder/CEO of Global Green Media LLC, was just as cool to chat with as he was handsome in a Ralph Lauren suit that he paired with a Banana Republic striped shirt and Kenneth Cole shoes. I’m definitely looking forward to staying in touch with this brotha – he was a good guy.

And what did I wear tonight?  Oh, just an easy Carole Little orange dress, Kardashian Kollection Peak Shoulder Blazer, and my trusty, sequined Felix Rey tote (large enough to hold my note pad, DSL-R, and other blogging essentials).

So who rocked it for you tonight?

He is out and about, attending events, dressed up real nice, making appearances, etc. Doesnt have a 9-5 these days, as far as i know. That is a friggin socialite. I envy that life, lol.

Thank you Jill!!!! That means a lot to me – because these posts are quite a bit of work and that’s why i gotta limit them. lol. I already told Derek, after my next upcoming events pass, im gonna take a hiatus for a bit. I was up all night after the event writing this dang thing up. Glad its appreciated. 😉

wow–the ladies looked awesome!! dude, jen is so friggin pretty! really cool to see her gloss line follow through–it wasn’t just something she “talked” about, but she actually did it, so biggups to her. (not to mention, she took her popularity to launch something respectable–and not like a tee-shirt line based off some trashy catchphrase…lol, i’m just saying!)

i love how you made your outfit description some simple non-significant one-liner, lmao–please, your outfit is so cute!! i really like how you paired such a funky blazer with this soft feminine dress.

oh, and loving susie’s shoes..need those in my life. and ole girl’s earrings are cute, too; love to wear big clunky earrings, the bigger the better for me!

    • yakini says:

Yeah, i agree with that. Jen always keeps it classy, and i like that about her. There were many negative things that went down over the course of the show (that whole food stamps exchange with Tami comes to mind first) and she could easily have capitalized off of those things but chose not to.

lol, i wasnt really excited about my outfit – i found the whole thing underwhelming, which may be why i downplayed it so much. I wish i’d taken off the jacket in at least a few of the pics as the dress really is cute on its own.

Omg, i was waiting for someone to comment on Suzie’s shoes. Those jonts are bomb!!!

  6. Raijean says:

    Looks like fun girl..

    • yakini says:

Thx girl! It kinda was. But of course I was so focused on getting my interviews and photos and things – so at times it was more work than fun. But i know i dont have to tell you that! 😉

  7. Looks like a fun event! These folks were tryin to shut it down!

  8. Fatimah says:
