Christian Louboutin Celebrates 20 Years With Book Launch Party at Barneys New York

The celebration of 20 years of red-soled glamour continues on!  Last week Barneys unveiled a dramatic window display featuring an artful showcase of Christian Louboutin heels. This past Monday guests gathered on the 5th floor of Barneys for the  launch of Louboutin’s new self-titled book.  Celebs in attendance included the likes of Alicia Keys and hubby Swizz Beatz, go-to celebrity DJ Solange Knowles, the Olsen twins, Blake Lively, Tyrese Gibson, and select others.

At the party, guests shared some of their memories and early impressions of Louboutins:

Scott Schuman: They offer a nice accent to a photograph. That’s what shoes and accessories should be. It should all be in harmony. For me, Louboutin is like a great guitar solo. It’s not the whole song, but it’s a very special part of the song that a lot of people remember.

Joe Zee: The first time I saw someone kick up their heel and I saw a red sole, I was like, “What’s that?” They make women 100 feet taller than me, so it’s very emasculating, but in a good way. They’re so feminine and so sexy. You become this whole other person when you’re wearing them. They’re superhero shoes in a way.

Taylor Tomasi-Hill: Christian’s shoes are requested for every shoot that we do in the magazine world. Every celebrity wants 20 pairs of his shoes on our shoots, and so do we!

Christian Louboutin retails for $150 and includes an intricate pop-up, an elaborate foldout cover, and dramatic still-life photography.  That’s a pretty penny for one hardcover book, though I’m sure it’ll be gorgeous on the coffee table and quite entertaining for visitors to your home.

Will you be picking up a copy from Barneys?
